And so it begins....

...what the past 6th months has been building up to, stretching over one ocean and two hemispheres; climbing in South Africa.
A day past turning 22 and a day away from leaving PDX. My friend Sydney came down from Seattle to celebrate and is watching the three of us pare away our things into packs and squeezing whatever is left into boxes and bags to make room for the new folks moving into the house.
Thankfully my friends Rachel, Jarod, Greg and Sam will be in the house while I'm away, so I know it's in good hands. I will have to steal back my room from Greg and his puppy Shelby, but I am so happy that such a good group of people will be there over the summer... as long as the heat doesn't kill them!
Plans are: Drive to Ashland on Monday with Ben's Parents and enjoy dinner with some of his family and my folks in S. Oregon. Drive to SFX on Tuesday and stay with more of Ben's family until we fly out on Thursday. We go from San Fran to D.C. to New York - spending most of 4th of July cooped up in the JFK airport. We fly from out from JFK the night of the 4th and land on the 5th in Johannesburg... blessing valerian root and crossword puzzles to make the flight bearable...
Otherwise this is just a start up post. I will be putting up pictures and the sort as we travel, along with links to Eric and Matt's (our other two travel companions) blog that will include more pictures and videos of our travels!

It will be spotty at times beforehand, but I will have internet connection and email access while we're in S.A. but my phone will be off starting the 1st of July! Thanks for checking in, in the meantime - once I get an address in Clanwilliam I'll send a post - but any individual emails are always welcome and loved!
